Madras Cafe Review

The yellow pages were taken out from the books of history and yellow leaves were turned green into the movie. The candid efforts of director are clearly visible and the producer “John Abraham and Network 18” utilized their money in a worthy attempt.

The story is based on the assassination of former Prime Minister Raghiv Gandhi, the conspiracy of LTF (fictitious depiction of LTTE), Prabhakaran and the war scenes of Sri Lanka.

John Abraham (Vikram) who is acting as Indian Intelligent Agent works on the mission in Sri Lanka but comes to know about the conspiracy to assassinate to the former Prime Minister Raghiv Gandhi at the end. He is off course, the fictitious character added in the movie. Director Shoojit forgot to take John out of his placate zone and it seems very irrational when he is found confessing and telling all the truths to the priest inside the church. It would have been better if he has confessed the things by sitting in the confession box as disguised face.

On the other hand, Nargis, once again disappointed the audiences by her role of journalists in the movie, where the ardor, zeal and fervor attempts were lacking but her style statement was in high. It appeared as if she is some corporate manager, instead of a war journalist.

The jerks are clearly noticeable in the story which doesn’t let audiences understand the things happening around. On the other hand, locations and characters are highly applauding in the movie.

But, one thing I observed that it’s the fast depiction of storytelling which anchors the audiences, if the director have allowed pause of one nanosecond, audiences would have lost their interests in the movie.

The name “Madras café” also had a diverse impression in the minds of people storytelling was experimented with few new things but do read the brief of history if you are going to watch it.

No doubt, the facts and figures are homogenized in the movie but such movies take their own place in bollywood industries and movies on history should be made in India, as the country itself holds a great history.

Things I liked in the movie "A Bronx Tale"

I liked the characters. The name "Calogero" and Calogero's dad and Sonny. The C's friend, her girlfriend and the way she says "I like Italians."

 1. When Calogero's father asks him not to enter the bar again.

 2. Lil Calogero says to his father, "The working man is a sucker."

3. And his father replies that "The saddest things in life is wasted talent."

4. When C asks Calegaro that is it better to be feared or loved?
And Sonny replies that both.

5. And when C takes the trigger, his dad explains that a trigger don't make anyone hero. The real hero is the one who stands and work hard and earns and live happily.

6. And when the C meet Sonny for the last time, he explain him many things.

6. And Sonny tells about a test which can help judging a girl.

7. And Sonny tells that don't listen to your friend, listen to your heart. Doesn't matter if your friend don't like a black girlfriend.  And he continues these below written lines.

8. And all the friends of C died in an accident while burning the cafe of black people.

9. And when messed up, after sometime they talk about belief and faith.

10. Calogero's mom says to her dad, that "I fell in love with your uniform"

11. And Calogero says that you will confess the god and being a catholic you can start afresh every week.

12. And the last message which touches me the most

13. And when the voice over says, "Beatles were changing the world"

14. And when dad tells to Calogero that "You did right thing to the wrong person"

15. And when Sonny tells that "You care for Yankees but Yankees don't care for your father."

16. And when Sonny passes away, Calogero's dad pay his homage to Sonny "Sonny, I don't hate you but I just don't like the way you made my child grow too early"

Almost Famous

Well, it is all about music. People don't come here because they are groupie. People come here for themselves, for music and music is their love. They listen and listen, they make love with rockstars because they love music. They look weird because they are least worried about their pathetic looks.
The world is divided into two groups: Cool and Uncool.
Cool are those who love to get dope, take drugs, smoke the smoke, get drunk and sing and dance.
Uncool are those who love to get the ride of life without all this.
And uncool people try to settle between cool people but cool people find uncool people, really uncool.

People come here because they can tie up their stings with the help of music. People come here because they know that being a fan of rockstar is actually good and they don't believe that rockstars are very mystique and unpredictable. Whereas, the young fan follow rockstars just because they are crazy on their weird looks, not because they sing well.

The movie talks about acceptance of different perspective, like the way William's mother had to accept the William and her sister, the Russell accepted William and Penny Lane and vice versa.

They talk about "The Beatles", "The Pink Floyd", the songs like Fever Dog, Father and about the good literature. They talk about the things which make them "BUZZ"

In all, it is a must watch and you can see it as many as times, you wish to see.

First time, I am loving the music after the movie and I am trying to read about "The Beatles", listen them and learn more about everyone.

P.S. I dig music, I am on drugs, said Russell.

Where the title 'Bachchan' left people confused?!

Director: Rohit Shetty
Producer: Dhillin Mehta, Ajay Devgn

Cast:
Ajay Devgn as Prithviraj Raghuvanshi
Abhishek Bachchan as Abbas Ali
Asin as Sania
Prachi Desai
Asrani
Archana Puran Singh
Krishna Abhishek
Neeraj Vora
Jeetu Verma
Amitabh Bachchan.... Item Number
Harish Shetty

As the curtain unveils, the absurd song with red-blue-green-yellow colors starts to flaunt with absurd not-so-sensible lyrics of the song and then appears Amitabh Bachchan as an item role. At the very end of the song, he says, “I am not in the film, only my name is”
A question kept knocking me till the end, why “Bachchan” and why only Amitabh Bachchan??? A stunt or sake bone thrown to the audience. Offcourse, Bachchan in the title indicates the Surname as justified by his dialogue.

Ajay Devgn (Prithvi) enters as “Gaon ka Raja”, wearing best attires, long kurtas and jeans shows his glimpse of “Singham” chest which haven’t turned to blouse and the partial visible Shiva tattoo simply look fab on the screen and his concourse misinterpreted English makes you burst laughter and sometimes despairs for forced dragged comedy and it is the only reason that the movie is categorized into Comedy Section.
Prithvi, an innocent lion, speaks by his power, not by the game, trying to protect the village and her sister (Prachi Desai) from the brotherly gang of Saboo.

Abbas Ali and her sister (Abhishek and Asin) land into village to earn some money as they lost their property in Purani Dilli and while saving a child trapped inside a temple, he breaks open the lock of an ancestral temple but fate plays an important twist in Abbas' life as the whole village including Prithviraj's step-brother Vikrant opposes Abbas' actions but Prithviraj arrives and handles the situation. On being asked his name, Abbas's friend comes out with a fake name; to avoid the rage of villagers and keep them ignorant about Abbas’ being Muslim. And from this old social taboo of Hindu-Muslim, arise the conflicts and bags of comedy while veiling one lie, Abbas starts telling other lies that he also has a twin brother with no moustache.

The Archana Puran Singh comes into frame as fake mother of Abbas Ali. And when caught while performing Mujraa by Prithvi, depicts one more fake story of her twin sister who is mother of Abbas.

The thing which is least noticed in the movie is that Abbas Ali is shown as transgender and Prithvi dialogue “Kabhi kabhi to mard nille rang ke bahar dikhte hai” left a coated message to the audiences to accept transgender as part of society and welcome them as teacher in the activities they are good into.

Asin failed to act as per the expectations of audiences and seems carrying extra emotional baggage with her in every scene.
Prachi Desai, on the other hand seems pretty with lovely hairstyle.
Abhishek performed good in the role of Muslim Abbas where as he lost this way to carry he while performing as Hindu Abhishek.

Ranakpur is the best shown in the movie and being least highlighted in the movie, it was a new place to carry out the story.

The sequences in the movie are full of car smashing and getting parked in “Don Serving Style” in haveli. The gunda fight, sounds of exchanging blows tried to fill the frame with sound effects.

Ultimately, the best thing of the movie is screenplay where the aesthetic colors are properly indicating the Rajasthan and chaos among the villagers. Whereas, few things were really dull in the movie like the lyrics of song, the title of the movie, the old “Judwa” bhai concept..

And how can one forget the song of Himessss bhiyyaaa.. “Chalao na naino se baan re” seems like pathetic when Prithvi put his hand again and again on his left chest and beat it off to express the love in a “Mushtanda Romeo” style.. it goes like crowd was cheering it in the Cineplex’s while it is other matter that many of them left the hall in between.

At last, it was Ajay Devgn, whose acting saved the amateurised treatment of the movie with boring, obsolete and expected end of the movie. These types of chick lite movies are easily crossing budgets of 50 crores but at the end they lack a good script. It is time to laugh and say “Bol Bachchan”

Everything is Illuminated

I don't have lot to say about the movie except few things:

  • A very Strong and apprehensive story but storytelling fails
  • Characters are good but don't acted for cent percent
  • Well placed strong music which rejoices you every time
  • Beautiful use of sunflowers to relate to the topic
  • A strong concept of Collector's job
  • A rigid search is indeed necessary to find the motives of life.
  • Somewhere conflict of the movie works to catch you up
  • Name of the movie don't justify until you watch last 20 minutes of the movie
  • The old character attempts suicide is really not clear and I will consider it as strongest flaw of the movie.
  • Few last scenes are wonderful and make the sense especially the scenes of war and which gets illuminated at last.
  • Emotions and gestures are lacking everywhere. Somewhere, it is more deprived of human expression.
  • Somewhere, the human emotions seems dramatic.
  • Locations are beautiful.

I liked the last lines of the movie:

"I have reflected many times upon our rigid search.

It has shown me.....that everything is illuminated in the light of the past.

It is always along the side of us.....on the inside, looking out.

Like you say, inside out.
Jonfen, in this way, I will always be along the side of your life.

And you will always be along the side of mine."

Blank by Kieslowski

It is nothing about reviewing any Kieslowski's work. I came across the question that I want to know more about the music used in the movie of Kieslowski Three Colors: White Series?

Please tell me everything in detail.
